The Windowshop;
on thresholds
The Windowshop as threshold, a collection of zines and publication around displacement, demolition, temporality, gentrification, that are all part of the story of the development of Rotterdam. The topic of the threshold emerged out of the current local issues of displacement and gentrification, addressing the impact of the transformation of spaces.
The threshold should be understood as a spatial concept: a place in between that helps us to orientate ourselves. In Sara Ahmed’s Queer Phenomenology (2006), refering to the idea of orientation as something that “differentiates between left and right, front and behind, up and down, as well as near and far. What is offered, in other words, is how bodies become orientated by how they take up time and space.”
